Designer & Consultant

Introduction
As a professional sculptor and educator, it has become very obvious to me that thanks to my passion for combining 'nature and art',  my continuous involvement in creating public art (as symposium artist or artist-in-residence) and interest in art education, I have been accumulating design, planning and consultancy experience relating to the many issues involved in the establishment of sculpture parks and sculpture trails, as well as in the establishment of artist residency programmes.

As a sculptor, I have contributed outdoor works located in public spaces or parks in:
- Meru, Oise, France
- Changchun, Jilin Province, China
- An Giang, Chau Doc, Mekong Delta, Vietnam
- Hue, Vietnam
- Tegucigalpa, Honduras (United Nations El Picacho Park)
- Kunming, Yunnan Province, China
- Chateau de Bois Guilbert, Normandy, France
- Drogheda, Ireland
- Roehampton, England
- Broomhill Sculpture Gardens, North Devon, England
- Klamath Falls, Oregon, USA
- Wise, Virginia, USA
- Washington D.C., USA
- Seeley Lake, Montana, USA
- Belvoir Castle Estate, East Midlands, England
- Ulsan, South Korea

As a consultant I've worked on projects in the USA (Anchorage - Alaska, as well as Seeley Lake - Montana), in China (World Sculpture Park in Changchun and Daguan Park in Kunming), and more recently have written a project involving a network of sculpture park/art centres in England, Qatar and India. I have also helped to establish an artist residency programme at Garnet Ghost Town in the USA and initiated one at Belvoir Castle in England.

Currently I am creating a niche for myself as a sculpture park / sculpture trail consultant for historic houses and other venues in the United Kingdom and around the world.

Philosophy
It is not my intention to "push" my own sculpture, as much as it is to create site-specific programmes (whether this be in the form of a new sculpture park, new sculpture trail, new sculpture garden, new artist-in-residence opportunity) that offers artists, including myself, more options for creating/displaying work, interacting with the public, engaging with the community in a sustainable manner.

Each client is different. The parameters / needs / stakeholders are entirely different from site to site: English Castle or Priory, Manor House or Hall (privately owned or National Trust owned), large hacienda, coastal land, mountain land, ancient monastery grounds. Each programme, each project of necessity entails a totally different approach.
From evaluation of a site, planning/design ideas, choice of a suitable methodology, selection of suitable artists/sculptors to invite to create works, devising ancillary services (educational, community-oriented) which can be implemented in conjunction with a sculpture trail, sculpture park or sculpture garden, - my working approach is take it one step at a time until my client is happy with the result - which itself will be an on-going rather than a final one as such things must always evolve to remain dynamic.

Cumulating art consultancy with on-going commissions for private, corporate and public bodies is very exciting.

I've initiated in 2011 a sculpture trail in the context of an artist residency on the perimeter of Belvoir Castle & Estate. See video overview of the 3Rs: Recycled, Reclaimed, Raw Sculpture Trail
